Game Review
In a tightly contested Bundesliga clash, FC Augsburg and Union Berlin shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw. The match, held on Thursday, 15 January 2026, saw both teams battling hard for points in a game that reflected their mid-table standings. Augsburg, playing at home, took the lead just before halftime through Alexis Claude-Maurice (GAP +0.7%), who capitalized on a defensive lapse to score. Union Berlin, however, managed to salvage a point in the dying moments of the match thanks to Marin Ljubicic's equalizer in the 90th minute. The game was marked by a significant turning point when Derrick Köhn (GAP -2.7%) of Union Berlin received a red card in the 89th minute, reducing his team to ten men. Despite this setback, Union Berlin showed resilience and managed to find the back of the net shortly after, demonstrating their fighting spirit. Tactically, both teams made several changes to their lineups. FC Augsburg's manager opted for a fresh approach, bringing in Samuel Essende, Han-Noah Massengo, Fabian Rieder, Marius Wolf, and Mert Kömür as substitutes to inject energy into the side. Union Berlin's head coach also made strategic substitutions, introducing Andrej Ilić, Alex Král, Marin Ljubicic, Aljoscha Kemlein, and Livan Burcu, which ultimately paid off with Ljubicic's late goal. Key performances included Oliver Burke (GAP +2.0%) for Union Berlin, who was instrumental in their attacking play, and Finn Dahmen (GAP +1.6%) for Augsburg, who made several crucial saves to keep his team in the game. This result leaves both teams in a similar position in the Bundesliga table, with neither side able to gain significant ground. Augsburg will be slightly disappointed not to have secured all three points at home, while Union Berlin will be relieved to have snatched a draw despite being a man down. Both teams will look to build on this performance in their upcoming fixtures as they aim to climb the league standings.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
